DP. Is this a serious question? Because everybody who expresses urgency about opening schools gets labeled as a Trumper. This issue has been hopelessly politicized, which is a large part of why schools are still closed. It has nothing to do with pretending to be a "good person".

And on your second point, if most of the higher SES kids were to leave DCPS, it would send DCPS into a downward spiral in terms of test scores and reputation, and probably in terms of the quality of education for low SES kids as well. The diversity of the school system would decline. You cannot wish for this to happen.

Yep let’s go back to the days of Barry where DCPS only had low SES kids, was ranked last of all states in education, and had no money because no middle or UMC families lived in the city, and houses were dirt cheap which meant no taxes/revenues for the city.

I won’t even go into the crime stats. There was a reason it was called the murder capitol and drugs were rampant. City services basically non-existent for trash, etc....

We are trying to get a meeting with our own principal to talk about options but to no avail. Not sure who the right person is to ask/suggest. Anyone know? I do have a feeling one barrier will be concern that the WOTP families are taking slots away from EOTP families, even though those slots are currently unused.

They 100% won't go for this, the logistics would be too difficult.

We are a Hearst family (1 K classroom and a couple of Cares rooms but that's it). If EoTP families didn't want spots, we'd definitely drive to an open spot. Would be nice to just have the opportunity. Instead, nada. Couldn't be less impressed. So glad we are leaving the school after this year. Not even given a shot at returning this year. But great job teachers for being out there saying this is acceptable. Just b/c our kid is doing fine with the 12-hour per week curriculum, doesn't mean she isn't a mess in different ways.

Other WOTP schools forced teachers without Ada and cares back. This isn’t on the Hearst teachers. This is on the Hearst Principal for refusing to do it. Lay the blame where it belongs .
