It seems they overplayed their hand when they tried to shift it even more to a business - and that plus all the fans free britney movement sparked someone to at least let her retain a third party financial institution to handle some of the money.

Absolutely Britney needed help - but she was also really pushed over the edge. By the business, but her family AND kevin should have stepped in and gotten her help so that she could see her kids. I would go insane too if someone took my kids away, even visitation. Come on.

She got help, and stabilized. She started working again, and got to raise her kids jointly with Kevin. But the conversatorship going on for years? That seems insane. She should have a trusted financial advisor and there is no reason her dad should be raking in all this money.

This is a very good point. My aunt has diagnosed bipolar disorder that includes delusions when she is manic. She also has some intellectual disability. She has had a conservator her whole adult life. No way can she be trusted to handle her financial affairs and she can't keep a job. There's no controversy because she's never made any money and lives off Social Security. I imagine most younger people with a conservatorship are in the same boat.

I haven't watched this documentary yet but I want to. I am the same age as Britney and I recall the early 2000's as being very misogynistic in terms of pop culture and in general. Anyone remember Perez Hilton website? Lindsay Lohan was treated very poorly during that time, as was Tara Reid. I mean they were hot messes but they were also very young, and the media coverage of them was just relentless. I feel like it was a toxic time to even be just a regular, non-famous young woman. I was on a sports team where the men and women practiced together. The environment on the team around that time was absolutely toxic in terms of the way the guys spoke to us, came up with mean nicknames, slut shamed us if they heard of us hooking up with anyone the way normal college girls do, etc. It got so bad our coach had to intervene. Some of the women dated men on the team and they got treated like absolute sh*t by their boyfriends. I don't know why they put up with it. We're definitely in a better place now culturally.

Perez Hilton's in the documentary, actually. He, like everyone else who made money off Britney, comes off as an a-hole.

I came away from watching this feeling like there's a LOT we don't know about how Britney actually is, if this sort of break was inevitable or if she really was pushed into madness by a horrible effing world, why in the world she'd be under the custodianship of someone she clearly hates and doesn't trust (if she's not capable of executing her own decisions, can't she at least have some say in who will be her conservator?).

That was so boring. I turned it off. I don't know why anyone would "cry" over the movie.

Remember when Cameron Diaz and Jessica Biel got in a fight over JT? Guess Cameron won at life even if she lost at having JT.

JT is trash. I hated him after Janet Jackson. I honestly did not know he cheated on Brtney first and didn't pay attention to how he slut-shamed her. In retrospect, it is horrible. He also has some serious cultural appropriation issues. I am glad he is being called out. He is scum. Very talented, but still scum

And KFed is trash too. He was at the Jan 6th insurrection

Thanks for clarifying (DP). I also thought it was him.

WRONG. It was her first husband, the one she was married to for a day or two, Jason Alexander, who was at the Capitol on January 6. Not K Fed. That's pretty low to make that accusation, especially when you're dead wrong. Shame on you.

DP. I don't think anyone is a KFed stan but being in the Jan 6 insurrection is an accusation that should (rightly) haunt anyone, so best to be absolutely sure before making it.

My lifelong BFF taught her sons in the valley outside of LA. She had nothing but very nice things to say about both Britney and Kevin. Kevin is the primary parent, he is very involved and serious with their sons. Britney is very pleasant and sweet but seemed a bit immature and more of a weekend parent. Kevin was the one doing the homework with the boys, checking on their tests, conferencing with teachers, etc. He was the stability. Britney is a lovely person, but the boys were better off primarily with Kevin.

Gosh, can you imagine if someone reported on your parenting like your loose lipped friend blabbed to you and probably everyone else? And OF COURSE she was a “weekend parent” as you put it. She doesn’t have primary custody. That tends to cut a person out of the loops. JFC.

You seem very angry. You think teachers at any school don't talk about parents? Give me a break. Take some deep breaths. I don't think what PP wrote was disturbing at all, and I gathered that was the case anyway. Why you seem so bent out of shape to hear that the exH is a good parent that does the heavy lifting, instead of the "gold digger" everyone wants him to be and why are you so upset to hear that Britney is a nice person? You seem way too invested.

Teacher here. Of course teachers talk. But they should have the sense to not blab to people who are then going to put personal information out on a public message board for anyone to read. Major violation of privacy. To the PP who wrote that-- I hope that teacher realizes you are no friend. Use your head.

I'm sorry. But what exactly did the original poster said that is getting everyone so worked up? That Britney is nice and has the kids on the weekend? And so? That Kevin is very involved with the boys? And so?

JFC, I don't see any violation of privacy here at all. It would be one thing if someone said: "well, one kid needs special support and the mother is super rude and doesn't care about her children, and the father is the only one who ever returns emails, blah blah blah."

But that's not what the person wrote, at all. I am having a very hard time understanding the insanity over this. And I'm sorry to disappoint you but I am not dumb; yet it isn't clear to me. It sounds like to me the teacher had very nice things to say, what in the world are people up in arms about? Not contrived and made up innuendoes that posters WANT to see, that are not there. Please, spell it out for us.

Well according to DCUM, public figures are fair for criticism. Looking on her IG it’s pretty clear she has mental issues and needs help.

You could say that about a sizable percentage of people on IG, yet they aren’t force to live their lives under financial conservatorships. People can receive help without their autonomy being taken away. It’s almost as if money is the motive, huh?

The topic is Britney Spears. If this upsets you then it time to take several steps back and go to your happy space.

Sometimes people compare two things to illustrate a point. In this case, Britney Spears vs. other people with mental problems who are living their lives without conservatorships. If that upsets you then it’s time for you to take your own advice.

Sometimes people need to realize a failed illustration wasn’t needed bc the specific topic is Britney and her specific conservatorship. You want to also illustrate that non famous people are living life not in the public eye? Or that non famous people don’t have custody of their kids?

Why are you talking about people other than Britney, hypocrite?

JT is absolute trash. He got famous off of his relationship with Britney (and before anyone says 'NSync was enough, how much are you following JC and Chris's careers?). He was beyond the worst with Janet Jackson, and parlayed his momentary minor repentance into a form of stature. Everything that he touches is gross - either through exploitation or appropriation. He can't even let his wife take center stage in wedding photos or about childbirth.

Yup, and he's an anti-vaxer
