If he wins, I will swallow a tarantula.
I don’t know. As soccer moms go, so goes Virginia. Women turned it blue after Trump. Women can and will turn it red. They are losing jobs to DL. Their kids are struggling in DL. Moms will go red in local elections to end this mess.
It's not that he's a Republican. It's that he's associated with the far right wing of the party when there are more Larry Hogan style Republican candidates available. I think the alternates, who still will push for open schools, would better appeal to soccer moms (like myself). Obviously no Republican is going to be enough for the progressives in northern Virginia of any gender, but for the moderates a Trumper isn't going to work where a Hogan might.

I think most of the Republican candidates are for open schools. Kirk Cox who has a lot more experience (and has been a teacher) is pro-open also.
Most Democrats are pro-opening too. If you want to try to make this a partisan issue.
Good point. However based on the voting that's been done on bills in the general assembly so far, most Democrats are for allowing localitites to chose whether or not to open. Most Republicans are for forcing localities to open. It's a difference that matters.
I don't believe, for example, that Terry McAuliffe has come out saying he will push the VDOE to require in-person instruction.
On Tuesday, both Fairfax and Loudoun will decide whether or not to go back to school in March. Loudoun will say Yes. Fairfax will probably say Yes, but I'm less confident about that.
The issue will soon be moot (probably). And in general, we don't want Richmond micromanaging schools in Nova, whether Republican or Democrat.
No. The issue will be huge next fall when 5 days a week with unvaxxed kids is going to be the issue. I don’t believe in micromanaging schools. But I do believe we need a floor. Closed is too low.

That’s going to be a problem for him in the fall. Women in NOVA burbs seeing elections.
