+1. They should have kept successful registrations, and if programs were overbooked they could remove campers according to time stamp or else lottery that individual program. Not because the current system was fair, but because the next go round will be just as unfair.

I'd prefer a ranked choice registration where everybody gets something they like. If not that, then lottery. But either way, I need this locked down while there is still time to register for other camps.

I keep having to open a stupid Excel file. Does anyone have a link to the descriptions of the sleep away camps?

https://www.gscnc.org/en/camp/explore-our-camps/summer-sleep-away-camps.html

Scroll down and the descriptions are under each camp’s video. It’s irritating because you have to click on each bar to see the age range, but the descriptions are there.

I am beyond annoyed with GSUSA. I think our council does well (room for improvement to be sure), but the national organization is out of touch and not supportive of councils.

Same here!

GS camp registration is so stressful. After having camp canceled in 2020, then registering my kids for Winona and having it canceled last year, I really hope the registrations I made today will work.

Honestly, I knew right away that today would be a disaster as soon as they announced it was on the GS platform. All of GS technology is half-baked and taped together. Too many different systems and seemingly nobody proficient running the show. It doesn't have to be this terrible.

It's awful, which is unsurprising b/c they pay their people next to nothing.

I received the above notice through the GSCNC rallyhood for Outdoor activities, and it appears to apply to all camp registrations, not just Potomac Woods.

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: Due to continual system errors with gsEvents registration, we have unfortunately made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend registration, INCLUDING this Thursday (1/13). Please fill out the following form if you would like to receive updates about when registration will resume: https://form.jotform.com/GSCNCCamping/SACinfo2022. We thank you all for your patience as we work with GSUSA to optimize this new registration system.

To be really honest with you all, registration was an absolute disaster today. We have programs that are way overbooked (one has an extra 18 girls) and many were unable to register due to credit card/payment processing errors. I don't have any concrete information right now, but please fill out the survey above so we can communicate information to you after we regroup with GSUSA. Thank you so much for your patience with us, and please know my ultimate goal here is to get as many girls to camp this summer as possible.

Last year they were able to take masks off when around only girls from their program (considered a “family” group). So they really only wore them when they were in the lodges or sharing an outdoor activity space with another group, or all-camp activities. My daughter said it ended up being really no big deal.

At the first Camp webinar last Thursday, they said they are expanding the "safe" to all of a program group rather than just the Pod. Pod last year meant the group of girls sleeping in a one glen at a site. So everyone sleeping at the Ridge site won't need a mask if it's just them. If they mix with another Group (Say Maple Hollow) they will need the masks.

It so annoying trying to get my card to able accepted this am. It took almost an hour of refreshing and trying various cards to get a confirmation.

Boy, I'm glad I don't live in DC.

DD goes to GS camps whenever she wants for as long as she wants.

As the mother of a 17-year-old who hasn’t been to GS overnight camp in several years, nice to see nothing has changed with their trash system.

Of course, back in the day, it opened at midnight and there wasn’t any sort of queue. Just madness. So it’s slightly more civilized now.

And also, we always got first choices with friends. It’s insane that it seems to work out for most when so many are trying to register at the same time.
