Almost 7% of WFU students are from New Jersey. 7% are from New York.

Almost 23% are from North Carolina , while about 8% are from Florida.

If religion is a concern, Tulane is very popular with Jewish students, while Wake Forest has Baptist roots.

Tulane is very liberal, WFU leans conservative.

Both have large numbers of students from wealthy families.

Tulane is ranked as the #1 party school in the nation year after year.

Both are majority female schools, but Tulane is lopsided in this respect.

Better social life at Tulane, slightly better academics at WFU.

WFU has a lot of Southern students, while Tulane attracts lots of students from the Northeast.

May depend on finances and on what the student plans to study.

Its so-so private in Confederate country, what do you think?

Yea, research triangle area of NC is Confederate country. Go educate yourself granny.

Wake Forest University isn’t in the Triangle and hasn’t been in Wake Forest, NC for 75 years. Go educate yourself.

It is the equivalent of saying that everyone in DC is constantly going to the Lincoln Memorial. People party, but they party like college students - frat parties, neighborhood bars and house parties.

As for alumni networks - Tulane has a decent alumni group in DC, but I would never consider that it has helped open any doors for me, and in my professional life I rarely meet other Tulane grads.

When I went to school in DC we were at the Lincoln Memorial every weekend. Or so I told my folks.

I posted my daughter went to Wake and I went to Tulane. I could not figure out to amend my response. Certainly everyone at Wake is not NE wealthy whites. That was her friend group bc we came from there too. Plenty of southern people but I think both schools have Alot of both. You can’t go wrong. Look at the academics and see if thet have have u want to study as a priority. Good luck! But your child will love either school. As a parent, I pick NOLA but the Deamon Deacons put more into sports! (These days)

Wake is way more conservative than Tulane. I went Tulane and had friends from all races and religions. My daughter went to Wake and they were all were NE white wealthy kids.

You can’t go wrong with either of these - both fantastic schools and seeing where a kid feels is a bette fit would be fine.

My DC received a substantial merit scholarship at Tulane. Nothing from Wake. DC loves both. Is picking Tulane a no-brainer?

Living in New Orleans is usually a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Your DC might love NOLA and cherish the memories (like I did!) or might not like the city at all (the humidity/all the touristy, boozyy NOLA stuff/etc) and want out.

Just choose the best fit. If it were Princeton vs one of these schools, I'd recommend thinking long and hard before turning down Princeton, but I'd just choose based on fit between these two.

It is impossible to have a reasonable, helpful conversation on this forum. There is way too much snark. I suggest you peruse other college forums for mature discussions on schools.

Wake Forest and Tulane are both wonderful schools with smart, engaged students. They do have a "different" feel and that is something your kid needs to research. One of my kids attended Wake (we are extremely liberal, and URM) and had a fabulous 4 year, received a top-notch education and was gainfully employed before graduation. Keep in mind the old stereotypes for many of the southern schools are antiquated.

We also know plenty of kids that attended Tulane and would say the same thing.

Best of luck
