Agree with. Gentleman in Moscow. The authors first book was also great, though I forget the name.
Just finished Hamnet and it was amazing. Definitely not heartwarming.
My favorite authors writing today are Geraldine Brooks and Marilyn Robinson. You can’t go wrong withe either. Also Hilary Mantel but you need to be prepared to commit to her books.

Where'd you go Bernadette?
Very funny, somewhat chicklitty, I suppose, but more about a girl discovering her mom and her mom rediscovering her own past than romance. Not dark, which is what I need these days.

The Scent Keeper was a big hit with my book club. I liked the unique premise.

The Tea Rose trilogy is excellent if you like historical fiction.

I love Brian Freeman for crime fiction.

I've loved everything by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

The Lonely Hearts Hotel is one of my favorites in recent years and it didn't get nearly enough buzz.

I also loved City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert.

+1 to the Tea Rose trilogy for historical fiction lovers

Jackie Collins and Jude Devereaux wrote some very entertaining books, Olivia Goldsmith also..
Stephanie Plum series by Evanovich is great for the first half and the rest isn't bad.
Wag the Dog , Beinhart
American Rhapsody Joe Esterhauz

Psalma and Proverbs in the Bible. Beautiful, funny, amazingly timely.

One of the things I like about downloading books from my library web site is there are about 3,000 books available, and I can read the synopsis of what each book is about before I decide if I want to read it or not. If I do want to read it, then I download it. If after getting started on it, if it doesn't grab me, then I can return it or let it disappear off my kindle after two weeks.

My favorite books I read during the pandemic:

The Leavers by Lisa Lo (equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming in a realistic way, some real “you can’t go home again” shit but you’ll be okay)

Normal People and Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney (both books are super hot with a fair amount of sex and good stories! I like CWF best and especially loved the ending)

Writers and Lovers by Lily King (really got pulled into this one, found myself rooting for the main character)

The Cafe by the Sea by Jenny Colgan ( I assume this counts as chick lit, I enjoyed the hell out of it and it’s a series)

Jane Austen Project by Kathleen Flynn (Jane Austen plus time travel, hell yes!)

Georgette Heyer novels (She wrote Jane Austen style novels and she wrote a lot of them. I especially enjoyed Sylvester and Cotillion)

I’m totally jealous of anyone who hasn’t read the Outlander books yet. Totally jealous.
