Why does the IAC have to communicate their plans to the general community?


well at the very least, the ADs could communicate to their own players parents what the hell is going on this Spring.

Former IAC Dad here... our son is soon to be graduating from college.

The IAC has always lacked leadership when it comes to athletics. To my knowledge, the league has never a league commissioner but rather its a handshake between school ADs and headmasters that its 6 members will follow the IAC by-laws.

No need to open up a can of worms as we all know, all of the IAC schools don't typically follow the rules established in the IAC league handbook but I do find it odd there is no central figure head to communicate to the general community what is going happen this Spring.

My son had a great experience at his school and enjoyed his time playing lacrosse, from time to time, I will make it back for a game if I am not traveling.



Agree with this. The Heads of the IAC schools look at sports as more of a nuisance than anything. The only reason they care, is cause the parents and kids care and we are paying the bills. I guess that is like most people centered in academia at that level. The values that sports provides young people (as well as opportunity are just hard to conceptualize if one has never gone through it at any type of high level. Very narrow expertise and ability to relate.

You learn a lot more about yourself and in life in competition - whether you win or lose. Most IAC headmasters are intellectual elites, if not all of them, so its clear why there is a disconnect.


What are you talking about? The Episcopal head played lacrosse at Princeton. The SSSAS head played lacrosse at Dartmouth. The Landon head played soccer and rugby at Harvard. The St. Alban's head is a former basketball and baseball coach.

It means the email said the schools are planning to play in case a season is allowed. The schools are putting together schedules times and dates in case vaccines are brought to bear in a timely manner to allow them to play. Schedules will be cut back based on health recommendations as late as Mid-April to try and get and some play in.

They'll schedule independently, just like MIAA football. If the WCAC doesn't go forward, I doubt GZ wants to play SMR, DJO, or BI. They'll play competitive WCAC and IAC teams. Coaches are planning now. Don't be surprised if MadLax, Paragon, Corrigan, Hogan, or whoever sponsors club lax, has a role if this contingency plan is needed.
