I’d go with a Colette personally. People are always going to have the negative connotation with the character in Les Mis. It’d be like naming your kid Evita or Elsa or Jasmine or Ariel or Glinda or Nala. There will always, inevitably, be in association and the ubiquitous comment of “oh, like the musical.”

I think it’s a pretty name. I’m not French and we named one of our daughters Genevieve.
The musical will always be popular. Just like west side story and many of the old classic musicals that are regularly revived. People will always associate that name with the musical but I don’t think people will make a big deal about it as others are suggesting.
