Loudoun doesn't enter because they would lose and they more they lose - especially to non-ECNL clubs - the less they are able to justify charging parents twice as much as other clubs (including ECNL clubs). Their teams are nosediving, the best kids leave for DCU, VDA and Arlington and nobody moves the other way. And they somehow think that claiming a forfeit win (and making their own kids sit at home all weekend instead of playing the game of soccer they have paid for) is going to help reverse this. They are utterly clueless.
McLean enters their ECNL teams - which have similar league results to Loudoun's - and usually wins a game or two before getting knocked out in the quarter finals or thereabouts. But at least McLean understands that they best serve their kids by actually playing soccer against other teams that also want their kids to play soccer. Good for them. That program might actually improve as a result.
Loudoun tells parents it doesn't enter state cup because it is "too good". The reality is that it's teams would be knocked out early. It would lose to Alexandria, Arlington, Legacy, and Skyline in most or all age groups. Heck it would lose plenty of age groups to McLean, Herndon, Beach, and others.
But none of that really matters for this thread - all that matters for this thread is how Loudoun behaved when asked to accommodate another club's request to reschedule. It doesn't really matter what the reason for the request was. It's like me phoning up my co-worker and saying "Jim, is there any way you could possibly move that call tomorrow, something's come up?". And Jim replies "Let me check - oh yeah - looks like I could move it to the following day.
But I won't do that for you Joe. Instead I'm going to keep it right where it is and make sure our boss knows you didn't attend.". And then Jim wonders why nobody likes him.
