I know the answer to this, but do you have ANY idea how extremely complicated, difficult, and expensive it is to adopt? And that you can put tons and tons of time, energy, and hope into an adoption that falls through? Repeatedly? And that the large majority of adoptions these days are open, stipulated adoptions where the birthparents can decide their role and frequency of contact even if the adoptive parents wish otherwise? And that, unless you’re cool with adopting a child born to a mother with alcohol, nicotine, drug or mental issues, you might be waiting 3+ years to be matched?

The “just adopt” statements are so flippantly thrown around by people who lack intelligence and empathy to understand not everybody in this world finds their person early in life or has the financial and emotional support to be a single parent until they are older or that the desire to carry a child with your DNA and physical traits does not go away when you reach a certain age. How small of you to think this way.

Married someone younger who wanted more time before having kids. My grandmothers had babies at 42 and 46 respectively-strong late in life fertility seems to run in my family. Adoption just seemed crushing to me, putting together your dossier and then just waiting for someone to pick you, I have several friends who took their adopted child home and then one of the birth parents changed their mind-as is their right, but how crushing, and it's REALLY expensive.

Regardless of OP's age, the prospects are not good for his/her offspring. Even most elementary school students are smart enough to tell the difference between those whose parents have stable careers and homes and those whose moms dropped out of school to have a baby. They may not know the details, but they notice the difference in quality of life.

Ha-ha I actually thought it was a very telling remark, I now have a complete mental portrait of the OP: she is a 23 yo cashier at Walmart, with colorful tattoos and several piercings in all the visible places, with two kids from different fathers. She just needs something to feel superior at, poor thing.

My mom had me when she was 40 and it was so nice in my teen years. My friends moms seemed so emotional and so immature.

My dad was 42 retired at 55 when I was 13 and we did do much together in my teen years it was great.

You sound like a teenager. Do you prefer people have babies at 17? Or you're okay at 25-28 and that's it?
