Just curious as to whether or not this tournament will take place. Columbia Fall tournament had to exclude all out of state teams from this tournament due to the rise in cases in certain areas. Also they are only allowing 1 parent to watch the game. Since some of the boys team will be playing in VA for the Bethesda Premier Cup, has anybody heard anything about no out of state teams being able to participate?

Based on a Tweet I saw, the decision for the Columbia tournament might have originated in Howard County, in consultation with Anne Arundel County where some games were. I'm not sure how other counties will approach youth sports.

Anne Arundel just announced that starting Monday, no permits for park and rec. fields or facilities will be issued.

For Boys? Girls have been out for awhile. The only question is if the tournament will be cancelled due to MoCo Executive Order and Hogan Executive Order. I think SoccerPlex will be too crowded to have it.

I guess a permit for games is not needed since season is over and we'll worry about 25 at games in March?

I think it has to do with insurance. The player may not be covered when playing with a team of the opposite Soccer Association.

This question applies to the Bethesda tournament but I think it's true for most tournaments...So as we all know, teams can have guest players. As most know a player can be carded with US Youth Soccer or with US Club Soccer. Most players are carded with US Youth Soccer. ECNL players and I believe NPL teams are carded with US Club Soccer. So any USYS team can guest play any other USYS player but they cannot guest play a kid carded with US Club Soccer. Anyone know why, a team is not allowed to guest play US Club Soccer players? Do tournaments not trust US Club Soccer cards? Well that can't be it because tournaments allow US Club Soccer TEAMS to enter just not allow them to guest play on USYS teams. This just seems weird to me. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks. PS: I understand not everyone likes guest playing. I'm not making a statement on guest playing, I just don't understand this rule. Thanks.

I can confirm above. County has given Bethesda a permit (but that can be pulled) to proceed. Bethesda Cup also has letter of approval from Montgomery County.

Only one parent will be allowed per player. There will be a volunteer at each field counting and making sure the numbers match based on players.

The only question is how the SoccerPlex will enforce the new policy. This is a big question as there has been many problems with the staff through the pandemic.

I believe the vote is 11:30am today. Will likely take up until Thursday to sort out.

I heard that the the changes wouldn't affect the ability to hold the tournament. They are going with 22 on the field and subs aren't being counted because they are "off the field". Seems like they are just working the system but I think having a standard rule that's the same for 25 inside in a gym being the same as 25 outside on a soccer field is a bit ridiculous.

Youre missing the point. The complaint is..how do you have a FULL game with 25 people?

Thats basically a game with ZERO subs. 11 players (x 2) and 2 coaches. No subs. 1 ref.

NOT INCLUDING PARENTS RIGHT NOW.
