Have you watched The Zookeeper's Wife?

Amazing movie. Truly.

The time is 1939 and the place is Poland, homeland of Antonina Zabinski and her husband, Dr. Jan Zabinski. The Warsaw Zoo flourishes under Jan's stewardship and Antonina's care. When their country is invaded by the Nazis, Jan and Antonina are forced to report to the Reich's newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck. The Zabinskis covertly begin working with the Resistance and put into action plans to save the lives of hundreds from what has become the Warsaw Ghetto.

No. There are better films about the Holocaust if that's what you are looking for.

What I like is that is that while it's hard to watch, it doesn't have the explicit violence like Saving Private Ryan or any other war movie after that does. I am one of those who just flat out avoids today's War movies as I physically cannot take watching someone's throat get cut, head get chopped off, or anything else that happens. I know you need to see that in order to understand the full extent of war, but jesus.

I like that you can watch Schindler's List as a historical record of a terrible event but not feel bad about showing it in a high school, etc.

I don't read reviews of movies - they seem useless to me.

Agree on reviews. I loved the movie The Goldfinch recently. And I was showing it to a friend and notice it was considered a flop and horribly reviewed. I still loved it. So did my friends.

I won't describe what happens so as not to spoil it for someone who hasn't seen it, but the ending with the people in line is instant tears.
