They don’t have to have hearings - but you are missing the point that the committee must vote her out in order for a full senate vote. They might not have the votes to do that.

No hearings are actually required. ACB was confirmed for appellate court less than three years ago with hearing and a bipartisan vote. May push up timeline and just call for an immediate vote if they have the repub vote in line.

Actually, they can do a lot. They need a quorum on the committee and a majority of votes. 2 repugs are stricken already.

And even if they could - my concern is how do they plan to effectively question a Supreme Court Justice in hearings while under the influence of narcotics and painkillers themselves?
