I know two men who are controlled by their wives in ways that are painful to watch when we’re with them and both guys have said they like being bossed around. One says he likes not having to make his own choices. Doing just what his wife wants simplifies things.

I wish sometimes that I could be attracted to such pushover guys!

Have a friend who fits this description. She is a multi-million trust fund child and was getting wedding and baby fever. She had a great education and is in a highly-paid profession. Met a guy on-line and within weeks had him move in. He is good looking and that's about the only attribute he has. Comes from a highly dysfunctional family with a father who is a multiple-times convicted felon and physical abuser and mother who died very young of chronic alcoholism. He never finished high school and works a blue collar job. Has very few basic social skills and is difficult to converse with due to his (honest) ignorance about many subjects. He is hard-core conservative politically, collect guns and blindly believes whatever he hears. But he is very brawny and handsome.

She rules the roost (and the checkbook) and he worships the ground she walks on. For now. We had gone out to dinner with them and it was extremely uncomfortable because she was verging on verbal abuse of him. Referred to him as an idiot when he stepped away and she wasn't joking. When he expressed an opinion about something she gave him looks that could kill and told him that if he was a "real man" he would not think that way and would do what she said. Within a year she was pregnant and gave birth.

We figured he is nothing more than a sperm donor. Predict one of two things: She will do a high-priced steamroll divorce and dump him before he knows what happens. Or his brawny brain will eventually click in and he will push back. Hard.

She’s funny, but prides herself on not taking shit but she is very unpleasant a lot of the time in her own home.

It’s victim blaming. Op wants to be self-congratulated.

The “strong” women never tell anyone when their husband does stray. It would ruin their self-image and self-view. They find themselves doing something they would never EVER think they would do if their husband cheated: try to work it out and preserve the marriage for their children’s sake.

You don’t have to be a b@tch or nasty to get treated right. A good, healthy relationship does not have those dynamics.

Because women who are demanding also tend to give a lot in return. People who put a lot of thought into human interaction are generally both giving and demanding.

Look, I'm an alpha married to a beta. He says it, not me.

I'm not bitchy either and the reason I "rule the roost" is b/c my husband doesn't want to rule. He doesn't want to make a decision. He doesn't want to be at the top of his company. I do. He gets money, an organized home filled with everything he needs, wonderful meals, and I'm funny (thank God).

I get a wonderful man who won't cheat on me and who solves my technical problems and will do my "honey do" list and will cook dinner as long as I give him the game plan.

Neither one of us gets a clean house. We have to pay for that but we can b/c i earn a stupid amount of money. but that's a different thread.
