My elementary age kids practiced mask wearing during the summer and they have no problem with it. My preschooler was not a fan initially, but when he saw his siblings going off to school with masks this morning, he immediately demanded a mask. I expect he will be fine wearing it when all the other kids are. He goes back Friday.

The kids know the masks are necessary to protect the community. We also practised over the summer and kids are used to them.

Nope. My kids take it with ease. We made sure they got used to it over the summer.

This. If 10% of schools ultimately close. Or even 25%, or 50%. That's still 50%+ of kids getting to stay in school in person and stay healthy. Which is a win.

We had to fight for the option. 20% chose virtual. They gave the high schoolers hardly any elective options so probably more would have chosen virtual if they made it less bad for older kids. I have no faith in the school district to keep people safe considering the head of the school board posted on his Facebook page that masks are a joke. School sports got shut down already this summer due to Covid cases. We’ll see what happens.

Wow! That’s disappointing. Our district has a huge emphasis on masks. So much so that they distributed yard signs with the school logo and a mask with a “XYZ Tigers Wear Masks!” message on it. Middle school sports aren’t running, but several high school ones are.

Thank you! Kids are home after first day. I hear it went well!

Just think, it might be like sending them to boarding school, only instead they get an ICU visit.

Way to dodge the question!

How is that dodging the question?

I'd like to know if the person who asked the question originally takes out life insurance on his/her kids for the flu each year. You know - just in case. Because as I'm sure he/she is aware, kids are more likely to die of the flu each year.
