I never wanted a boy. Of course my first is a boy and zero shared interests make it difficult to form any bond. I don't like all the cars/trucks/monsters/superheros etc, and endless need to rough and tumble. Add in nose picking, fart/poop jokes and always has his hands in pants playing himself. Ugh little boys are so gross. I was so lucky to have a daughter for my second and she's more my speed.

NP This is horrible to read. How would you feel if your mother had said the same thing to you? It may not be 100 percent pro choice but, do you stop and think how horrible it really is? Sounds close to Hilter's dream of having "perfect" children.

Same. Plus the first child sort of determines the toys. We have such a cute girly playroom. I’ve also read that boys with older siblings make better husbands


I’m the original PP here. They have totally different personalities. Our girl always must be in charge, always telling everyone what to do, always setting the agenda. Our boy is quieter, wants his ideas heard and desperately wants her to validate what he does. So he cries often about not getting to make decisions and not getting his way sometimes. He’s be such a happier kid if he was the older or an only. We try to teach and correct DD’s behavior but it doesn’t work. And it drives us crazy but at school she has a ton of friends and gets praised for “leadership.” She is a great kid in her own way. But it wears on us. It’s just not a great dynamic for our family.


Let me guess if your boy was older and bossy it would be "leadership" but, because it is a girl she is bossy. I feel sorry for your girl.

Totally agree. I’m very pro-choice, but terminating a healthy baby just because it’s the opposite sex that you wanted is really awful. There is something wrong with you if you do that. You should not have kids if you aren’t ok with raising either sex. Plus, you never know what gender your child will identify with; it may be the opposite of their biological sex.

I don't think I would pick the sex of my child.

I would have liked to have had one of each just to experience parenting one of each (the order really doesn't matter to me), but I have 2 girls and that is fine by me. We went through years of unexplained secondary infertility, so when we FINALLY had our second, we were just happy to have a healthy child.

The little one is a carbon copy of her big sis. It is crazy to look at their pictures side by side.

I wouldn't if I could. I didn't find out when I was pregnant and I imagined so many scenarios. DD turned out better than any of them. If I have another I assume the Great Beyond will once again surpass my understanding and give me the kid I need.

+1. The liberals have no problem standing up criminals but have no problem killing a baby in the womb. Heartbeat starts at 6 weeks. If there is a heartbeat, there is a human life. These evil people will use any excuse to murder their children because they can’t keep their legs closed.

I adopted and i chose a girl. I was at first offered a boy and declined. 2 weeks later I was offered a girl and now have my beautiful daughter, going on 19. I was only going to have and raise one child and it was never a question in my mind -- a daughter.

If I had decided to birth to a child I would have absolutely chosen/screened for gender, as i did for chromosomal damage or any other issue I was not comfortable taking on.
