Satsuma! My favorite down-to-earth, cozy Japanese restaurant. I hate the Asian restaurants in echo-y, noisy, industrial decor places. This one had carpet and a separate room with tatami for their table cooking.

If anyone knows another with the same ambience, please share!

Oh, I didn’t realize it closed. What’s there now?

I miss Satsuma too-- not sure anything has replaced it yet.

PP looking for other cozy Japanese restaurants-- have you tried Aji Nippon on Arlington across from Strosniders? Or maybe Tako Grill.

Mon Amie Gabi

Mon Ami Gabi is open. I think Cal Tort is too. Jaleo is only closed temporarily.

Jaleo won’t be reopening in Bethesda

Jose Andres opened Spanish Diner in the spot where Jaleo used to be. It has been there for several years now.

It's too bad because Jaleo was much better imo.

As for others, Grapeseed was great. Miss that place as well as Cafe Deluxe.

Add Le Pain Quotidien

The Roys that was on River Rd by Westbard makes me think of my grandmother and visiting her in elementary school (she lived in Wood Acres)

And on located Fairmont.

I'm the PP and exactly. Maybe it's because fajitas were a new concept back then, but it was so yummy!

Are you a moron? Fajitas were not a new concept in 1987.

They were outside of Texas.

I liked Mexicue the one time I had it.
