Roughly four-fifths of MoCo is currently out and about, not in one place.
First of all, no they are not. A great many people are still working from home and severely limiting their interactions and the time spent outside the home. Which is what everybody should be doing unless you are an essential worker. Second, they are not sitting in poorly ventilated rooms with a bunch of other people with questionable ability to keep their masks on. Third the PPs were specifically invoking camps and comparing them with school. The number of kids currently in in-person camps is minuscule compared to the number of public school students.

Not having in person school - at a MINIMUM just for elementary - is beyond insane in these circumstances. Totally not justifiable.
Yup. Sports practice, camp, pools, parties, senior beach week for pete's sake - but no school.
None of those are being sponsored by governments. Private citizens can make bad decisions for their families with less consequences than local and state governments. We declined a pool party this weekend. The invite came in a group text. I said I didn’t feel it was a good choice for my family under the current science. The hosting mom is very irritated with me now because she thinks I ruined it for other families by pointing out the risks. I never knew I was that charismatic by text.![]()
LOL
Get off your high horse.
If you actually cared about Science, you would realize that being outside at a pool party is quite safe.
And being a jerk and trying to assert your virtuosity by making condescending remarks against the host via text is tacky and rude.

the AAP strongly advocates that all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school.

I have lost all respect for teachers. I truly have.
It's pretty clear that the teachers don't want to go back. But it's not the teachers making the decision.
yup
I know! They should listen to Ms. Devoss. She's the Secretary of Education after all. The economy > student welfare.
Isn’t it interesting that the Secretary of Education has no experience in the field of education. She does not hold a degree in education, has no teaching experience, never attended a state or public university, and sent her own children to private school. Why is she someone we should listen to when it comes to anything related to education?
If there was any doubt I was being sarcastic when I wrote that. She has no concern for students and people would be best served by ignoring her.
I know! I just felt compelled to remind everyone of her credentials.
I love America, where the First Amendment permits any idiot to come on a site like this to express her I’ll-informed opinions and misspell DeVos. [/quote
She is the first secretary of education with zero experience with public schools. She has never worked in a public school. She has never been a teacher, a school administrator, nor served on any public board of education. She didn’t even attend public schools or send her children to public schools. She is out of her league when it comes to knowing and doing what works for public school students. (The last sentence is an opinion. The other sentences are facts.
