Hawaii request:

This is on the north shore of Kauai. Great location - across from beach, walk into town for restaurants, bars, shopping. Did get hot one night when the tradewinds died down but very comfortable when the trades were blowing. We loved the whole experience of not being at a resort.

These are great but I feel like I need to start a similar thread that reads "Favorite VRBO or AirBnB, under $500, you’ve ever stayed in?"

A few years ago, we stayed in a VRBO in Bend, Oregon. It was great. Came with someone's pot they left behind in a kitchen cabinet!

We stayed on this sheep farm in England's Peak District. Wasn't far from the place that stood in for Pemberley in the 2005 version of P&P. Beautiful towns and walks in this region. Also especially poignant was learning the story of Eyam. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5104221

In Maui, I was trying not to stay in big chain hotels on the beach and found a couple unique places. We stayed in this yurt https://luanaspa.com/accommodations/ right on the ocean (very basic, nothing fancy, but amazing location). We also stayed in a beautiful octagon cottage in the hills of Makawao that was on the grounds of the Aromatherapy Institute of Maui. Scents from the fields of plants would waft up with the breezes. It was a dream. Sadly this place has closed, I guess, but there may be new accommodation there.

Anyone have a favorite Airbnb/Vrbo for east coast skiing (anywhere from here up to Maine )?

We stayed here in Rome. It’s in the same area. The landlord is lovely and they list on multiple sites—used to have an independent site but I looked quickly. When you are lying in the bed your view out the long high window is the cupola of the cathedral across the street

Also, thanks for posting a place that isn't $500+/night. The other places listed have been great, but if you are paying that kind of money, they should be great. We have been pretty successful finding family sized places (2 or 3 bedroom) in the $200-300 range in good locations, but it takes a bit more work and you generally need to reserve early, so it's nice to see one like that.

Agree that it's a good location. Could you describe the layout a little? The listing is a little confusing. For example, are there really five bedrooms and five full bathrooms? Are there counting living areas with sofa beds as bedrooms? How many bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms? Is there AC in each room (probably the kind that you turn on when you get into the room)?

Not the person who posted the link, but doesn't it say in the listing that there are 2 bathrooms, 2 full bedrooms, and a third bed in a loft above the living room? And yes, based on the pictures, it looks like a mini-split AC/heat system, with individual interior units in each room. Very common on older buildings where there isn't room to install ducts.

PP who originally posted this- yes it was 2 BRs on the main level and then the 3rd BR (and one of the bathrooms) was in the loft. We were there pre-kids, with two other couples. A bit quirky I guess, DH and I took the loft, but still great overall. The loft would be fine for older kids, I could see not wanting to have younger kids up there. Ample kitchen and common area space. It was October so I don't think we needed heating/cooling.

To the PP who said thanks for posting a place that wasn't $500+ per night, you're welcome! The backstory is that my DH and I were going to Italy for 2 weeks and my MIL/FIL expressed interest in joining for the Rome part (they had always wanted to go but were too hesitant to do so on their own), and then my SIL/BIL decided to join as well. With 6 of us, it just made more sense to find an apartment rental than separate hotel rooms, and FIL very generously offered to cover the accommodation so we tried to find something reasonably priced. I really liked the neighborhood- centrally located and just a short distance from Piazza Navona itself there were some great little (less touristy) restaurants.
