I would like to remove the name of "Lee" from "Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club", solely for the reason that Robert E. Lee was the Commander for the Confederate Army. Can any of you please defend the position of keeping "Lee" in "Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club". You don't need to keep replying to your own comment, please be a grown up and respond to mine.
Why do people like you keep applying 2020 beliefs to the past? It is a fact, slavery was accepted at the time and in some parts world it is still accepted, keeping in mind slavery is not limited to blacks.
Thank you for taking the time to not be able to actually argue for the position of keeping the name "Lee" in "Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club". Why can't LMVSC just become MVSC? Or Gum Springs Sports Club? Or Rose Hill Sports Club? Or Rte 1 Sports Club? Why does LMVSC have to be Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club?

Because the Executive Director is also a Coach, and I've seen what happens when you get on the wrong side. Anonymity is sometimes helpful because you can at least gauge the environment. To be fair, it seems like some people are for a name change but most aren't, and to be very fair, some of the ones that aren't for a name change have been pretty rude about it. That alone would be reason enough for me to find a different club had DD not already graduated.
So, your animosity toward the ED is at the root of your trolling, and you're not even (allegedly) a member of the club any more. Got it.
The club self-identifies with Richard Henry Lee. There, fixed it. Now you can sleep at night.

It’s pretty obvious the club won’t do the right thing.
What remains to be seen is whether families will actually be anti-racist and leave the club over the name change.
Why do you say it's pretty obvious they won't do the right thing? Have you discussed this with them? Are you now saying the club is racist because of the name they have had for a long time? I agree that it could be changed but to pin the club as being racist because of the name is a bit ridiculous. You are clearly not aware of the diversity within the club. Families, players, coaches, staff, all diverse. Due to this diversity they probably would be open to the conversation. Some of this negativity is absurd.
