No you are smug because you are saying that you are going to make the best of things for your kids despite the pandemic without realizing that many people would be doing those exact same things if they didn't have to work full-time while taking care of kids, or didn't have spouses providing medical care or other essential services. You see to not understand that other people have constraints on making their summer fabulous (no boat, no childcare, no access to a lake). You are privileged to have these options, do not realize your privilege, seem to think that other people don't have your experiences because they don't want it enough or are scared of the pandemic, and you have started two separate threads bragging about all this. All of that makes you smug. Got it pumpkin?

We are all working too. But the housework and laundry can wait and we can carve out time for our kids. There are plenty of ways to be creative.

You can't even devote Saturday and Sunday to them? Sad.

I have friends who are flying to Florida this morning to visit family.

I am worried for them but do not consider them selfish.

Paradise Valley a winery, absolutely no problem for kids, there were many and they were all enjoying themselves on their lawn. Dirt Farm Brewery- same. Little Gym is open for gymnastics camp as of next week. Swim school is open for private lessons as of a week or two ago. We opted for private instead of classes bc the kids are always coughing and sneezing on each other in the pool. I don’t go to bars. We have done outdoor dining but just with our bubble. I posted about that and your response is the stupidest thing ever. If you are local you can go whenever. Go at lunch. Go in the morning. Go at 4 PM. It’s only busy on weekends. That’s the benefit of living nearby! Call your local county board if you don’t like it though. Plenty of MD countries have closed off their recreation to locals only. Complaining to me won’t help.

Receiving feedback apparently is not your thing.

They are managing without your helpful hints. But you might consider your impact in these places. Seeking resources outside of your area could spread virus. This is why we are looking at an international travel ban. You can attack me as stupid and be critical as much as you wish. But actions matter, roaming around because you don’t like that your local pool is closed isn’t being cautious.

Wow OP. Let’s see. I am reveling in my privilege that my 5000 sq ft mcmansion has allowed us to watch movies in our home theatre, set up a water park in our copious yard with extravagant purchases from amazon . I am visiting a relative’s beach house cost free while ordering in groceries so as not to incur any risk for me. When we return from the beach, the nanny will be home schooling the children while I get in shape at home and we order hundreds of dollars in online lectures, art kits and ornate books to keep the urchins entertained. In my spare time I order gourmet ingredients from Alaska, and other rural areas and from restaurants struggling to survive. I am a great cook so really enjoying this. Also I am totally rocking it at work!!!! I love getting ahead at my secure job while my colleagues without a nanny struggle and fall behind.

Is that what you were looking for? Let me know if you need any ideas on how to drive endangered species into extinction. Or I can tell you about how I have been totally helping to start the next wave of covid by visiting hotels and lovely indoor breweries or wineries.

Ok, reality check. While we all need to get through this and I am willing to believe your intentions were primarily good in that sense, there are few good choices right now and your freaky optimism makes me a bit ill. I really aspire to think about how to help develop a vaccine, make my kids more thoughtful and contribute to ending racism. I fully admit though that the above satire of my life is all true. Even for those with every advantage. We all need to work harder. These are the times that try men’s (and all of our) souls.
