Apparently in the left lane, it is. I have been given a ticket for driving in the left lane. I learned by lesson in New Jersey where they are very serious about this. If you were going 50 in the left lane on GW parkway I guarantee there was miles of traffic behind you that had to zig and zag to pass you. You were combative with the officer. Say you weren’t aware, are sorry and move on.
It forces people to pass on the right, which is dangerous; also no pulling right to let people pass can be ticketed as aggressive driving.

OP was driving speed limit. The law is for those driving TOO SLOW, meaning under the speed limit.
Right in the article. You need to stay to the right unless passing. It has nothing to do with speed. You can be going 10 over and if you’re camped in the left with no one in the right, it’s not legal. You can be charged with speeding and not keeping to the right.
Why do people stay left anyway?
