People have said that what he did is not criminal. That's different. And I haven't seen anyone hear say that the birder was acting in a threatening manner. You are inventing straw men.

Given the number of broad daylight shootings to cover in Popville's main territory of interest, I'm not sure a racist rant in Bethesda is going to really resonate.
He might be connected to the disturbing number of white supremacists popping up in this area. Richard Spencer lived in Arlington until they drove him out. And I remember maybe 2 years ago - police finishing a whole house filled with guns and supremacist literature in Bloomingdale. Can't remember the owner's name but it was some bum living with his mom.
This guy is an idiot who popped off and made racist statements. I'd hardly say what we witnessed makes him a white supremacist. There is even a decent chance he is Jewish judging by appearance.
He called a child the n-word, implied a woman was a foreigner, and threatened to destroy her perceived homeland.
That's on top of sounding drunk and disorderly. Jesus Christ. You want to talk 'I felt threatened' ala the Central Park incident, THIS is threatening someone.
I didn't hear the n-word on the tape. She thinks he said it -- and he may have -- but that isn't clear from what I saw.
Implying someone is a foreigner doesn't make someone a white supremacist. It appeared she had an accent of some sort, so if he did that, he would be right -- although it would be an inappropriate and irrelevant thing to say.
Do you think he had an atomic bomb in his trunk? So, yes, it is a threat of sorts, but not one that would cause someone to have direct fear. But even if you take that as a threat, that doesn't make him a white supremacist.
In my mind, there is a big difference between someone making racist statements and even harboring some racist feelings and being a white supremacist.

What a POS
POS, sure. But it didn't really look like he had any intention of fighting. He said do you want to fight and took a step or two out of his car, but it looked like he stopped before the other person got involved. While one can never know how it would have played out, it did not seem like a situation where there was going to be an actual physical altercation.

He is just and angry racist white dude that wants his way. It's Bethesda, it's oozing with privilege and racism.
Downtown Bethesda has a Japanese community.
But she’s not even a part of it. She said that she was not in fact Japanese contrary to his racist claims.
I know, I am saying that Bethesda is not oozing racism. I am Asian and live in a SFH on the edge of downtown Bethesda, and my neighbors hail from France, Finland, Turkey, Ecuador, Japan, Russia, etc...
It’s a very multicultural place, so there isn’t the type of white American privilege and racism you’re thinking of.
Just because a location isn't all white doesn't mean it isn't oozing racism. Just do a quick google of Whitman racial incidents. Not good.
Right? I mean, NYC is "very multicultural," and yet, as recent events show, you have tons of racism there.
+1. I'm in Bethesda all the time, or at least I was pre-pandemic to go to the gym--anecdotes about Finnish and Turkish people aside, at the end of the day, Bethesda is mostly white. And just because a community is very international doesn't mean there isn't racism. I'm 1st-gen American, and some of my relatives have definitely said racist stuff about black Americans.

Something similar happened to me in Bethesda (I'm a woman). I look like a Latina, but I'm not. I was in a crowded garage downtown Bethesda and pulled into a parking space. A man who thought the same space belonged to him although there was no physical way for him to pull into that space started SCREAMING at me, cursing, gesturing, signaling that he is going to get out of his car to attack me physically. Another man spetted in and told the guy to get in the car and leave. It was immediately done.
Two things, piss me off about both incidents. The racial component, but also men attacking women thinking that we will just back down. However, these p8ssies back down really fast when a man steps in because, as predicted, they are not brave or dangerous at all.
