I'm 36 and I wear jeans this length all the time in summer. I look and feel good in them, didn't know they are forbidden for certain age...

It’s not forbidden. It just doesn’t look good. If you don’t care about that, go right on ahead.

I would take an honest assessment of that factor in a full-length mirror. Go for the OVERALL assessment, and not just "my legs look good."
This is a little harsh, but I generally agree. Even if you look great, at a certain age it looks a little desperate walking around in coochie cutters. As I have gotten older, I've wanted to look a bit more sophisticated and put together (I am 35) so something like shredded denim hot pants isn't really part of that look no matter how great my legs look. Leave if for the young girls or the beach, if you must.
Wow. I bet the first woman commenting is more like 50+ and you agree with her at 35. Surely you don’t have gray hair and crepey skin and age spots at 35?
No, I don't have any of those things and am thin without cellulite, so I wear 3-4in shorts. I don't wear things like this and think there is definitely an age cutoff where it starts looking inappropriate.
You know nobody is talking about shorts like that when we say short shorts.
What are we talking about? I’m 50 and athletic and have a few pairs of 4 inch denim shorts from Madewell and Agolde. I like them for very casual outings.

My caveat- I wear clothes appropriate for the occasion. I’m not shopping at the mall in short shorts. I’m not going to restaurants in short shorts. But for an outdoor cookout? A hike? A walk in my neighborhood? A quick trip to the grocery store? You might be subject to my not-so-perfect 54 year old legs. I apologize in advance. 😂
