I don’t see COVID numbers going down significantly, if anything they’ll start to creep up again as other things open. So yes, if our preschool/daycare/whatever you want to call it was opening June 1, we would probably send DD. But that’s not the case for us and there is no set date for reopening.
I think the biggest issue here is not infection but rather the changes being made in response to Covid - 10 people in a classroom that normally would have 20. 1 teacher instead of 2 because of the smaller class size. Keeping the kids distanced and not allowing them to share toys. That's not age appropriate and I think it would be really hard for young children.
I guess it depends on your situation, because the too much TV my 4yo is getting right now while I try to work doesn’t seem developmentally appropriate either!
And for some parents, it is absolutely about the risk of infection. Maybe not even to the kids, but the chance of them bringing it home.
In my opinion, tv isn’t as scary and confusing as the hospital style check in process and ppe heavy environment that our center is implementing. I o agree that their policies are necessary, I just don’t know if they are right for what I want my kids exposed to.

If attempting to insult me for having a life instead of of living to serve my husband makes you feel better about yourself, by all means....
How dare you? I'm serious. You came on here asking for advice. If it isn't daycare, YOU know that and so move on to the posters who are answering your question. Not you. You have to not only get on here to clap back, you throw out an insult that isn't even appropriate. How do you know the PP is a SAHM? Do you know how many of us are working from home these days? "...living to serve my husband.." WTH?
+1
I think it’s important to distinguish between SCHOOL and DAYCARE here.
Against better judgment and the for entertainment value, I’ll bite. Why, in the present discussion of what is safe/prudent to do with a 4/5 year old who is off to K in the fall, would it matter if that kid is in a daycare with a preschool class or a traditional preschool ?
