In general DMV soccer is tame and a step behind TX or SoCal. The parents and coaches there are a world apart in their competitiveness and expectations from the DMV.

Here are the facts:
When DA formed, ECNL was the top league
Many top ECNL clubs left for DA.
Since the DA inaugural season, many of the top ECNL teams which left for DA returned to the DA
When DA folded, all but a few ECNL teams which left for DA came back to ECNL.
What is left in DA are a few former ECNL teams like FCV and Lonestar and Toohat
If you want to argue that the GA is the best for your DD the. Say that but don’t pretend that the GA is on par with the ECNL when the ECNL has the top teams in the country.
You can argue that the ECNL teams in NoVA are not strong but neither are Arlington and MU. All you have is FCV.

It actually is a great analogy when you think about it. $7k for six months of soccer in ECNL vs ten months for GDA/GA. More breakdowns and recalls due to very compressed schedule with widespread HS play in ECNL vs sensible schedule for GDA/GA.
You are right though, it does speak to mentality. This is the mentality of a marketer, trying to tie his brand to another well known brand. It’s all about the badge, which in the end means nothing in terms of quality.
I think the young parents referenced should have some idea of where value is when they make their decisions vs buying a badge and brand blindly.
What on Earth will all those young, excited Loudoun parents do when their club goes kaput this fall?
They are all Yugos and you are dumb enough to think of them as luxury items. Players and teams, not clubs and leagues, are good or not. The amount you need to think in these terms is inversely proportional to the amount of talent your kid probably has and the amount of soccer acumen her parents passed on.
