Is it clear why they are pushing to cancel completely right now?

I think those pools in NVSL wanting you scrap are not in good financial situations and want to know yes or no. I wish NVSL could figure out how to modify but the insurance is the tough part.

Maybe those pools should decide to not participate this year and not pressure the nvsl to make a hasty decision on behalf of the rest.

Take for example a swim club that has already decided to not open this summer. If a nearby club opens and there is some type of competitive swim team season the cub that isn’t opening stands to lose members to the others.

Most swim teams are limited to kids in the neighborhood or families who belong to the pool.

Well presumably non-essential business will be open so you can get your hair and nails done. But kids are not allowed to take part in sport.

You can't see the difference? You can have someone getting nails and hair done with no one on either side of the patron/provider. You can't do a team sports without a...well...team. Non-essential businesses can operate without crowding. Most teams, esp. a swim team, cannot do that. A diving team could probably do that. A basketball could do some drills with distance between players. Swim team has a limited space for starts, limited space on either end of the pool where kids rest and wait to swim again and limited space in the lanes.

I was just talking to a few friends this morning re: our local pool, and we basically all kind of agreed that it might not even be in our own pool's hands to decide - that VA or Fairfax County might make some across the board decision about all pools for the summer. I had stopped watching Northam's daily briefings but it sounds like Monday's might be fairly newsy so I will try to listen in.
