+1. My exDH gave my kid giardiasis because he doesn’t wash after the toilet. Thankfully, I never let him use my bathroom when he visits with the kids at my house.

It’s gross. My DC had to take a heavy antibiotic to get rid of it and DC was left lactose intolerant for a couple of months afterwards.

Of course, I know! DC had to be tested. Then when I told him DC had giardia, which is not at all endemic to Washington DC life, he admitted that he had diarrhea since returning from a multi-week overseas trip in an area with poor sanitation where he did not take appropriate precautions. He said he thought he just had diarrhea and didn’t know he had giardia. He went to doc and tested positive.

Honestly, you misogynists are always ready to blame the woman!

?? How is toilet paper on the roll dirty? I don't rub my hand over the side I wiped with? What are you all doing that you are touching the dirty used part of the toilet paper?

And I don't clean the seat in my own home either other than when I am cleaning the bathroom.

Not the OP, but I wash my hands every time.

And this is why I don't want to shake anyone's hand ever again and will use the pandemic as an excuse. People are gross.

This is so gross. I can’t believe there is even a debate about this. I can understand if you’re saying you admit you get lazy sometimes but to argue that it’s sanitary to not wash hands after you use the bathroom is just plain nasty.

UPDATE: I talked about this with my husband! He DOES wash his hands every time he pees at home, even in the middle of the night! He had notice that I don't, but it doesn't bother him. He also noted, as I did above, that he doesn't wash his hands after petting the cat or changing diapers.

We do have a kid - in diapers. He does say we need to teach her to wash after every time she pees when we potty train. Le sigh. I guess that means I have to start, do as I say not as I do never works. Marriage is about compromise, and this is one I'm willing to do. In a year or so
