Subject: I HATE AUTISM
They need them to be able to interpret and communicate with the neurotypical world. If I have a child with cancer, am I not allowed to say that I hate cancer? Cancer is NOT my child, nor my child's identity.
Autism is a disorder that must be managed. It can't be cured, unfortunately.
So my kid has a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a speech therapist and an IEP for nothing? Good to know.

How is this advice helpful to OP?
It’s really not a good idea for anyone’s mental health to take away the one source of enjoyment in life for a child with violent episodes requiring 9118 who is not currently in treatment or medicated.

OP, I'm sorry it is so hard right now. In addition to getting on some waitlists for your son, you might order the book "Not What I Expected" for yourself by Rita Eichenstein. No matter what his eventual diagnosis is, you are in a stage of anger and grief around what he is not (and what your life is not). That is OK! This stuff is hard, and it's OK to be angry about it. Eventually, hopefully, those feelings won't be quite so intense. But it's OK to have them and to rage a bit about what might have been but is not.
