Some BSC players travel from Howard County or other counties further north than Bethesda. I could see them moving to Pipeline ECNL now that that's an option.

Travel soccer is heading down a more user-friendly path. Less travel will help relieve the cost issue. Also, the impact of the Coronavirus on college sports might take away the reward of a college scholarship on the other end. I hope sanity returns to travel sports.

I was talking generally. Not my experience that BSC has mean coaches. Sorry if that was confusing. All our kids have had terrific coaches. I just meant with Covid what could happen in the world.

Should add that having a team for your child to connect with and even if they are not on the field due to
Covid is a great thing if your finances allow. Let’s hope Covid goes away.

I have talked to many families who are considering taking a break from travel sports. This is not just soccer. I am appreciating that it is expensive to travel already and some families have a tight budget. This is an easy reason to step off. The reality is that it is not just the travel fee as it is also the private trainer fee to be competitive and the other various programs. It gets to be more and more as these kids get older. Then you have coaches who do not say the said kid is that great and again an easy reason to take a break. I am sad to see what is going on. I hope next year is better. There are a lot of stressed families. They are stressed for their own health, their kids health, extended families and then the economy. It is a lot. I do want to get my kid out there because I also think kids will be depressed sitting home but again I understand that many do not have this option.

Will there be a reduction of people playing travel soccer due to Covid 19 and the current economy? I personally think people are ready to get their kids back on the field this fall as long as it is safe.

I've done it. It's not too difficult to keep the kids engaged and happy. Just calls for common sense, making sure you have a good (written worked for me) plan for the practises, make sure most of your drills are games rather than exercises, don't do any one thing for too long, and motivate with praise and encouragement as opposed to criticism.

A message late this afternoon to the managers of girls teams. The managers then send the message to their team. Not the most efficient way of doings things, but that’s how they roll.

If you left prior to this year and the YDP program, it’s completely different. All the key players are now gone and the influence from KL is being pushed down in terms of what kids are learning and style of play. They Formally announced new girls YDP director coming over from boys side with great reputation. Much of the older years are different with KL but still some of the same core coaches

That said, BSC mgmt comms and operations is still mediocre at best on a good day but that is for both boys and girls sides

KL is building a very strong club. The 05 group will set the mark and others will follow. It will be difficult with Pipeline gaining entry to ECNL but with the fall of DA, Bethesda should be able to grab players.
