Walk single file next time, OP.
This. If you were walking side by side versus single file, you had it coming.
Nope. We all need to adapt. No one has the right to barrel through, and a couple side by side is not blocking a path.
Sorry, op. You were in the wrong.
Not OP. Sorry guidance is 6 ft. Not 6 inches. Side by side makes them maybe 3 ft wide vs 1.5 ft; runner was STILL supposed to be giving widest berth to them, not threading the needle. And honestly, simply say you are approaching and ASK them to go single file. I have no doubt they would comply, just run in place for a few seconds like those marathoners.
Serious runners, you are going to end up getting shot. Calm the F down and be considerate.
OP, carry a walking stick and hold it horizontal between the two of you. Between that and mask, all these nutso runners will avoid you.
Two people walking side by side take up 4-5 feet, not 3. Just FYI.
Huh? Sidewalks are 4 ft wide and we walk side by side with easily 8 inches to the sidewalk.
Are you including your arms and shoulders? They swing out further than your legs. Two people side by side take up an entire 4 ft sidewalk.

As a runner, I'm avoiding sidewalks but understand that a lot of people are you in their neighborhoods walking. That's great, I respect that.
But you KNOW trails are where runners are. Don't go on them if you know this. And certainly do not expect sympathy if you're waking side by side instead of single file. If you expect others to make changes, then you have to do the same. Or one of you walks fully off the trail, on the right.
Runners: STAY OFF OUR PATHS. you don’t freaking own them.
Neither do you.
So go single file.
Move yourself.
Walk someplace else.
Accept the situation.
Explore your options and quit expecting others to change when you don't want to do anything yourself.
We know you own the path, and you won’t change. So enjoy vigilante enforcement of 6ft, hopefully they won’t draw blood.
For someone who is dead set on avoiding contact with someone else, it seems to me tripping them is a pretty good way to invite further contact.
Maybe you haven't thought this through.
Well I’m 6 ft tall and you are flat in ground, seems like a pretty good example of SD.
I love the internet tough guys.
But you can’t argue with my math.
Yes, you can add 6 to 0. Congratulations. Based on your posts here, I imagine that's the highlight of your academic career.
But seriously, you're not going to trip me, because I'm a 5'3" woman. But then again, you do sound like the kind of guy who would *only* trip a 5'3" woman. So who knows?
The most likely scenario, of course, is that you're going to do nothing, and come back and impotently fulminate on DCUM. Maybe kick your dog.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:My dog's leash is 6 feet and I will make him walk to extend it in order to force people around us...yes we go into the street when we are on the street side but there are so many idiots who are oblivious and don't take the 6 ft seriously. We don't go on trails though just the neighborhood sidewalk so the dog can do his business.
I'm a dog owner, and you should be ashamed of yourself. You're forcing people to run, what, 12 feet away from you to avoid your freaking dog?
Everyone needs to go single file if there is anyone passing you on either side: runners, walkers, all of us. I run, and I've seen both runners and walkers insisting on side by side. It's disgusting. I'm only going very early in the morning now to avoid people as much as possible, but it's painful how selfish so many are.
We walk and happily go single file but most runners don’t give us time to move.
You should be single file all the time, if you're not aware of your surroundings when people are coming up from behind. Runners aren't going 60mph. If you don't know when someone's beginning to approach, then you need to just stay single file the entire time.

Enjoy my foot.
You mean the virtue signaler pretending to care about people's health is actually a jerk? I'm shocked.
SHOCKED.
I THOUGHT THEY WERE SO MORAL AND CARING!
