Do NY or California have city and state functions on the same budget? Do NY or California have federal obligations like having the local police department handle presidential motorcades?


DC gets hundreds of millions in direct payments from the federal government every year. And the mayor wastes a lot of our money on crony contractors who are not qualified and add no value. And the kicker is that many of those cronies don’t even live in the District but rather in PG.


Actually the "federal payment" was ended in the mid 1990's. We get the same types of payments that any states receive in terms of things like block grants etc, but there is no "federal payment" any longer.

DC has among the highest bond ratings of any jurisdiction in the country. I think you know not what you speak of.

A search indicates that 38% of DC citizens work for feds. That would indicate that DC's needs would not be as great as most states. Add this to the fact that their non Fed citizens will be getting the same benefits as the rest of US citizens who get laid off.

The travel and tourism industry, and the convention and legal industries have all come to a stand still. This has a ripple effect into just about every service business in the city.

We pay significantly more to the Federal Government than we receive back, same as NY and California, and unlike most of the red states, who are basically taking our money and then spitting on us.


Not sure which firms you have in mind, but in my mind, the legal industry absolutely has not come to a standstill. I bill a full day every day remotely. I know I am not alone.
