I understand that they are saying that it will be at least 12 months for a vaccine. I know they need to open up business well before a vaccine is found, but I don't see how they can will open up sports and schools until a vaccine is in place. I'm no expert on any of this. I just don't see how sports will open up for maybe another YEAR! Thoughts?

I agree with you. I think the topic of this discussion should be more about whether or not there will be a Fall 2020 season or even a Spring 2021 season.

And as the previous posted implied...we don't know much right now, so it's best not to even speculate about when the kids will be able to get back on the field and compete unfortunately. It's going to be really hard for these kids to say motivated on their own for a year.

The virus is going to stay, we’ll have to become immune to it. The only way is to get infected and recover from it, or get a vaccine. Unfortunately this is like a mortal roulette game, we don’t know who is strong enough to recover after being infected.

Right on the money. Staggered waves of exposure to prevent crashing the system. That is the only way out short of staying home for 18 months and spending the equivalent of 12-15 years in federal discretionary nondefense expenditures.

But who is to say that you will become immune to it? I have had the regular flu before and I'm not immune to it. Viruses mutate.

You haven’t died of flu isn’t? that’s being immune, your body is resistant and able to fight. Immunization/vaccine helps the system against the virus. Those that got sick without the vaccine apparently got immune (probably not for ever though).

That's what they are determining now, but you are technically correct, this could go on forever, which is another reason not to wait for a vaccine, which presumably would face similar issues with greater mutation.

Duh. Of course they are canceled. Have you no access to national news?

Widespread testing would help greatly and ID those who are sick and who aren't!! Only way to get back to semi-normal until we have a vaccine.
