My husband is a doctor with a foreign MD who cannot practice here. He’s an infectious disease specialist and saw the writing on the wall in January.

Wishing strength to all medical personnel on the front lines!!!! This is WAR.

If those wait times are accurate everyone should go to Inova in fairfax county. Wait times are like 15 minutes consistently.

They are not going to be having patients wait around in the waiting room. That doesn't mean they aren't see quickly and sent to a makeshift COVID19 ward set up in a converted OR -- or, triagesd and sent home quickly.

The number you are looking at does not mean what you think it means.


DP here. I checkin with my ER nurse friend each day. The local Nova hospitals are still status quo - nothing has really hit yet. They are nervous and worried, but just waiting for now.

Unless (and I have no evidence of this either way) they are turning away cases that would ordinarily qualify as emergencies and it’s taking them longer to get around to treating emergencies once they are done with intake and in a bed, like they have in other countries. Because from what I understand the issue is ICU beds available, not hospital beds.

At this point I am assuming that people are stupid or unwilling to face the truth, so we are protecting ourselves, cleaning-disinfecting regularly at home, staying indoors in complete isolation..

OP, your dr. husband is seeing what the unvarnished reality is.

In Bergamo, Italy, they are retraining the dermatologists and cardiologists to deal with the coronavirus. Not ideal, but a doctor is better than no doctor. Your husband is likely to be called up

If we estimate the dmv population at 6 million, then 0.7% is 42,000 deaths.


No model assumes 100 percent of population will get virus.
