Is he under 25? If so, they most certainly will.

Physically. So everything's just fine.

Yes. And?

What?? How could she not know? That seems unlikely. Maybe she knows and is just showing that she's standing by him.

Since it's DC, he's already been released on own recognizance right?

This sounds like PCP. This is absolute nightmare fuel.

Yup. Gotta tell you? As a concealed carry individual, I would have dispatched him quickly and efficiently. And if that put me in jail? So be it.

Would you? Or would you have accidentally shot the little girl or one of the bystanders trying to help.

Get out of here with your nasty gun agenda, no one wants you in dc or anywhere else.

DP

Speak for yourself.

This poor girl is super lucky that it didn't end up worse. Thank goodness for the people who came to help out. He was a large man. If it had been just the girl and her mom, it could have ended up much more tragically.

There is a reason why people don't support banning guns, PP makes a valid point. Just for a case like this. YOU may not want to carry, and that's your right, but not everyone has to agree with you.

There are multiple things to discuss here - drugs, mental illness and this is just one more that can be considered. No agenda.

DP but get a grip, he's 5'9". The thing that set him apart was being on some kind of drug that gave him crazy strength and a willingness to leap through windows, not being "a large man."

5'9"....but nearly 200 pounds and likely a lot of that is muscle. The guy was a former D1 running back. Even if he wasn't on PCP, it would take at least 3-4 DC Normies to rescue the girl and restrain him. Add PCP and yeah, you need 7 people to handle the situation.

5'9", 190 is completely, absolutely, bog-standard average for an American male. He's not a large man. He's a, how did you put it, Normie. Running backs aren't large, linebackers and wide receivers are large. It's like you're reading from a script and refusing to acknowledge reality.

NP. A D1 running back is hardly the same thing as your avg American slob.

Last evening, at approximately 4:55pm, a friend's 4-year-old daughter was violently attacked by a large man on her way home from school at Ludlow-Taylor. The attack happened on the corner of 9th/Maryland, where he snatched the sweet girl from her mother's grip and attempted to strangle her on the sidewalk. Several witnesses jumped in to help the mother pry him off (at one point there were 7 men trying to get this guy off of her; and a group of teens as well), and the family involved wanted to be sure that these kind people know how much they are appreciated. Fortunately, the little girl was released from the hospital with scrapes and bruises, but without their fast action this could have been far worse.

Thanks to the help of these bystanders (including two who jumped out of their cars to help,) the perpetrator WAS arrested and taken into custody. The family (and the police) ask that anyone who helped or even just witnessed this brutal attack give a statement to the First District Detectives Office at 202-299-2025 to fortify their case. I know the family is extremely appreciative of the police response, including above-and-beyond elements like bringing cupcakes to the hospital and promising to be present around the little girl's neighborhood to ensure she feels safe. The commander said that in 21 years, she's never seen this sort of attack on a small child. The perpetrator is apparently a Virginia resident, and was suspected to be high on an as yet unknown substance based on his almost superhuman strength.

Thanks, and hug your kids today

Sounds like PCP?

How terrifying. This seems like a rare and tragic event, so I hope the family's sense of safety isn't disrupted too long, for their emotional well-being. Hopefully they will be provided counseling, if need be, for the child and parent.

who would provide them this? our behavioral health in this country is clearly at a standstill.

Safe Shores provides counseling to child victims of crime in DC.

Large compared to a 4 year old girl, no? I'm 5'0", so he's large compared to me. Maybe you're tall and a man, but as a female, the size of an assailant does matter.

Way to move the goal posts. PP wasn't talking about the size differential between a child and an adult. If so, he would have just said an adult man. As his follow-up shows (would have taken 3-4 regular men to handle him even without drugs!!!), he was trying to make the case that this person was of some kind of huge stature. And he wasn't.

Listen, this is a scary situation without inventing extra details to make the man frightening. He's frightening because he attacked a child, appeared to be inured to pain, was under the influence of a drug that made him extremely strong, leaped through a window, was unpredictable, etc. He doesn't have to also be a giant, stronger than 3-4 "Normie" men without drugs, all this nonsense. He's the exact average height for an American male, and below average weight. If we are going to turn that into "a large man" let's just add on that he had a hook for a hand while we're at it.
