Good but not stellar SAT II tests

AP Classes Taken: 8
Good EC's but not "Superman" EC's like I've seen from others, and pretty good supplements compared to the supplements for the other schools she applied to, but that's subjective.

Yes, I personally don't know where these people are from but we're very happy at getting some scholarship. Emory is likely harder to get into than Haverford and Georgetown. 11,500 people applied for the scholarship.

DC got into Emory early. He applied for Emory Scholars but didn't get it. But he still got in early and received the I4C scholarship for 25k.

GPA: 4.0 Unweighted
SAT: 1580; ACT: 36
AP Tests: eight 5's; one 4
IB Diploma (received one year early): 41/45
SAT II: World History 760; Math II 780; US History 750

I applied with the preferred major of political science; not sure if that affected anything.

Yea I think your right, it's not the 70's anymore. But I can understand people thinking Columbia is better than Emory because I think so too. But Georgetown, Swat, WashU, and Carnegie Mellon? Like what do they think Emory is?

I think many of the people responding to say Emory isn’t on par with Swat, etc are probably my age-ish (50) and yes Emory was much easier to get into back then and was often a backup for those who wanted Northwestern, Duke, etc but now it is attracting tip top students who want it as first choice. Also, most of the colleges listed in this thread are similar high quality academic experiences so really people are talking about rankings which are and for a long time have been a game (even for the colleges that have historically had high rankings - do you really think the academic experience at Columbia is that different than Tufts??).

That's just your opinion. The WSJ/ Times ranking ranks Emory above Swathmore and only 1 spot below Amherst. The other schools I tossed around were Gtown, CMU, Wash U, and Cornell. Emory has ranked ahead of 2 of those schools on USnews and 3 of those schools on WSJ/Times. So it seems like I'm right, but what is your perception of Emory's peer, in case I'm wrong.
