Rest assured, though, due to privacy laws, we will never know what, if any, punishment was meted out and what became of the kids who participated in the attack.

I saw the grabbing of him/holding him against his will, and thought this must be how it feels to be gang raped. Really disturbing video.

That's first thing I wondered...
Where did they get a stun gun?

At any rate, the person who took the video, the person who tased, and the person(s) who restrained should all be expelled from FCPS and criminally charged. Bystanders should be assessed on a case by case basis.
There should have been communication from the school to all students and parents the day in happened. I do not trust the school to handle this situation with a focus on protecting the victim.
Event occurred last Thursday. No school Monday and Tuesday. Student reported to school Wednesday. School parents notified Wednesday.
The school notified parents AFTER a news crew showed up on their doorstep.
Exactly. That was stated in the news story on channel 4. The school admins knew and decided to enjoy their 4 day weekend rather than address this issue. Pathetic.
It sounds like the administrators found out Wed (yesterday), I don’t think they knew last week.
Admin knew last week. Nothing was done and finally someone called the news and they went to the school and started showing parents the video in the kids & ride line. Then, bingo! An hour later, parents get an email and now the school is “investigating.”
This needs to be escalated to the school board. A school that recently experienced tragedy should be more caring and compassionate among its staff and students. Either the admin didn’t know till Wednesday, in which case they are utterly clueless about what is going on at the school and it might be a “no snitches” culture where kids do not trust adults. Or they knew earlier and didn’t communicate to parents and students in a timely manner, which led this to spread for days. Anyone who shared the video should be held responsible for their damaging actions. This should be on their disciplinary record, and emphasized to colleges they apply to.

A truly cowardly despicable act, made worse by all the bystanders who did nothing, and the staff who are taking their sweet time to notify and investigate. It’s a new principal but I do not trust this school after what happened to the girl assaulted on the band trip.
When was the band incident? Any details of what happened?

Is John Banbury still the principal at Oakton? If yes, I doubt this is handled appropriately.
No. BOTH administrators involved in the "joking" emails referenced towards the end of the article are gone.
If I recall correctly, they were not fired - just moved around in FCPS.
