Pop: Mary's Boy Child by Boney M (nothing like the Harry Belafonte version)

Traditional: We Three Kings

S/O When did My Favorite Things become a Christmas song? What does it have to do with Christmas?

Lou Rawls had three Xmas albums. If you like lounge/jazz/blues music, try them out.

This is mind blowing, goose bumps-causing, gorgeous interpretation of O come, O come, Emmanuel
Happy Holidays! DCUM!

O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Otherwise, as a relaltively conservative Catholic, I dislike all Christmas music.

What does being a conservative Catholic have to do with disliking Christmas music?

Maybe it only Christmas carols are allowed because they are religious in theme?

However Christmas songs are on a lay side and just enjoy the Christmassy spirit
like any other song and that is not good? Too much fun?

Tradtional:"O Holy Night"

Pop: "Merry Xmas Everybody" by Slade. I first heard this a few years ago and don't know why it never took off in the US. Such a fun tune, the chorus especially.

And Mary Did You Know also because of strong memories singing it in church choir (when I finally learned to at least carry a tune)

The Pentatonix version of Mary Did you Know is amazing!

YES!! Listening to it now, so so good.

This might be the most condescending, ignorant song ever made. I’m no PC activist but this song even offends me. “Do they know it’s Christmas ti e at all?” Come on.

I used to love it, but as I've grown up, I have come to view it this way. So obnoxious. I still love the idea of helping those less fortunate, but this song....ugh.

+1. I have residual fond feelings for it from my time as a kid in the 80s, but after not hearing it for several years and then hearing it again, that line especially - ugh ugh ugh.

And speaking of the 80s, funnily my mom once told me one of her favorite Christmas songs is "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer." For me, "Feliz Navidad" and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" are big favs. Also yes to Charlie Brown Christmas songs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and the hippopotamus song. I can listen endlessly to anything by Johnny Mathis or the Lennon Sisters, they both have fantastic Christmas albums. And Josh Groban's version of "O Holy Night."

And yeah, Santa Baby is great. I can't tell if many people are actually outraged by that song or if it's mostly been ginned up by the "War on Christmas" lobby a la the Starbucks red cup "controversy." Anyway, I like it, except for the awful bland Taylor Swift version. Eartha Kitt's is obviously best, but love the Madonna version too.

haha - thanks, pp. I was just thinking of bringing it up on spotify. I actually saw them perform these songs live, I THINK at the old arena in MD? I didn't live here back then, my friends dad drove us almost 2 hours to get to this concert.
