Weren’t BRYC parents on here calling the 03’s a “super team” not long ago? What happened? Where are they?

I don’t understand why a Fredericksburg parent would drive their kid to Richmond when VDA (as an example) is so close. Why don’t people play at the closest club?

Well, I heard that “commuter” got a bunch of offers and committed to WVU. Bruner must be doing something right if “return-on-commute” means a scholarship to a Power 5 program.

The way you keep excessively lathering him with praise, I'd think he were paying you if it weren't that you keep misspelling his name, the girl was a great player long before Brunner ever got involved and she got that WVU look by getting in a summer showcase just before she had ever joined the 03s. I will say yes, Brunner has good connections with college coaches. That's true, although the way I hear it, she got the offer but not a scholarship. She was at VDA prior to Richmond, but there was some sort of an issue between her parents and the leadership. That's why they left.

Seems like the VDA “leadership” let one off the line. Richmond hasn’t lost any. VDA has lost many.

Actually, the “leadership” at VDA let 3 off the line on the 03s. When they secretly announced their intent to leave the DA before end of first year - three girls left that had over 30 goals between them. First one went to BRYC 03s (currently in 2nd in Mid Atlantic after challenging in Nationals last year); second one (the commuter) went to Richmond (currently in first in Mid Atlantic and undefeated) and third went to FCV and is lead scorer on team (currently FCV is first in division in DA).

True story.

BRYC got last in their group at nationals and look like a sinking ship after getting crushed in Phoenix. That’s hardly “challenging” at nationals.

That's OK --- I'm sure tryouts are just around the corner and new players will be identified to come in and fix the problems creating by the existing roster.
Nothing like roster churn to improve a teams performance!

BRYC has a lot more to worry about then their precious 03s. New players won’t save this ship from sinking.

Next year they’ll have a good U19 team. That’s it.

This year, there are signs they are starting to drop the hammer, but until this year, no. And even this year, ECNL girls still make te roster if they are good enough. Kennedy Wesley, , Amelia Van Ante, Hannah Bebar. That's three names.

Vetch can’t name 5 more?

Kate Wiesner, Ainsley Ahmadian, Korbin Albert, Alexa Spaanstra, Natalie Maurer,

Just 14 more!

I don't want to hog all the good posts. I have to leave some for the rest. And we all know 8 names makes my point.

And your point is DA is shit?

I have no clue how that's your take away, but help yourself. People always re-read and reinterpret facts to suit their belief system.

If by some bizarre confusion you are thinking that means the YNTs are coming part and parcel from the ECNL, then that's an overreach at best. I can post plenty of names of YNT players from the DA. So re-read in context.

Anonymous wrote:If the poster's question is intended to include DA teams, then Bethesda DA U16/17 is the best 03 boys team in the DC area. They've beaten DC United DA's team twice this season, as well as knocked off a number of other MLS academy teams this season (e.g., NE Revolution). However, because this BSC team has not played club teams, it's difficult to compare them against that pool.

Girls teams. Thanks though, Bethesda dad.

Says you. The title of the thread is best 03 teams, not best 03 girls teams.

Bethesda is excellent, and I find DC United underwhelming as an MLS Academy. What keeps them going is the prospect of a pro connection.

Bethesda boys 03 is excellent? Are you talking about DA team? They are good, the rest are average. Not even top 10 in the area if you include DA.

Yeah, I meant the DA team.

Of course he meant the DA team, because this thread is about the top 03 teams - not B teams.

I'd put Baltimore Armour's 03 DA above Bethesda's right now, but it's true both are better than DC. The only asterisk to that is that DC has a lot of their 03s playing up with the 19s or even on the USL team. Then again, they brought all those guys with them to the GA Cup and it didn't seem to make much difference.

VDA's 03s are a step below the other three, and are probably at about the same level as Baltimore Celtic, McLean, Loudoun, and BRYC.

Yes, the U16/17 Baltimore Armour DA boys team is excellent and likely has the edge over BSC...even if the margin is relatively thin. When mentioning the 03 BSC DA, I was initially referring to the DC area...but, it's a fair point re Armour.

Richmond lost when the DA came out. It lost several players, including Canniff.

Canniff lived in Maryland and commuted to Richmond. It’s true that the DA told her to go to Washington Spirit if she wanted to make Nationsl Team roster.

Plenty of players stayed in the ECNL and continued to make rosters. She was already national team for years before that. There was no falling out with Richmond, but moving to the DA made sense for her.

That’s #fakenews. Can you name ANY youth national team players u
17 or above on ECNL? DA has brought the hammer down like the coda nostra.

She was told to move to the DA or she was out of the ynt. True story.

Just her. Sure yeah right. All the rest could stay in the ECNL. Whatever fits your narrative.

Meanwhile several other players left the ECNL for the DA too.
