“Are you sure it won’t make the virus worse if I press it?”

“No problem, press the button. It will be okay.”

“Okay, let me find the button again. I’m really, really scared!” I spend about a minute pretending to look for the button saying, “Ooooh, I hope this works. Please let it work.”

“You will be fine. Tell me when you have pressed the button. “

After a few seconds I say, “Okay, I pressed the button. What do I do now?”

“Type this URL in the box.”

“There is no box. I am using Linux.”

Click.

DH and I simply pretend to be old deaf people and wait for them to hang up.

I just pick up and say nothing.

We stop answering the phone years ago. We have kept the land lines but just don't answer them.

I ask the scammers if their mother knows what they do for a living. One replied, "yes, she taught me everything I know about how to do this."

When I used to try to engage them with some type of act, they quickly begin to use some pretty disturbing language, like frightening actually, so now I just hang up.
