I would never say it to your face, but I am always thinking it. Always.
we'll see who gets the last laugh when your tin can Forester or RAV4 collides with a 7100 pound vehicle
I drive an M1 tank. Terrible gas mileage, bad acceleration, hard to park, but safety first.

You are so clueless.
No, actually that's pretty spot-on.
This place is overflowing with pathetic strivers who spend their lives telling others how their SUV is killing the planet, while living in a house big enough for a family of 12.
Really? I think that there's probably a big overlap between people who live in really big houses and people who drive really big vehicles. Especially on DCUM.
Yup.
We live in a rowhouse that is pretty cheap to heat and do just fine schlepping our over programmed kids around in our 12 year old car that still gets great gas mileage though we only put about 5000 miles a year on it since we take public transportation to work so the mileage isn't even that important.
My BIL drives a $50000 vanity pick-up truck that he puts 30,000 miles a year on and probably spends more on gas a month than we spend in a year and probably spends more time in his truck in a month than we spend in our car all year.
The fun thing is that one of the reasons he spends so much time in his truck is the road to his suburban development outside Annapolis now floods several times a month at high tide because of rising sea levels and he routinely has to wait for the waters to recede to drive home, all the while running his engine and adding more carbon to the atmosphere.
But freedom. Or something.

Do you live on an island? Why do you need a boat then? Boats use so much gas they make Suburbans look efficient.
News flash - you don't need a boat. Or a Suburban. And if you insist on owning either, you should be taxed mercilessly for the privilege of owning it.

How often do you tow a boat? You can RENT a Suburban if you need to tow a boat. That makes a lot more sense than driving a Suburban around all year on grounds that once or twice a year you need to tow a boat.
Stop telling people how they should spend THEIR money.

Most rental companies have explicit prohibitions against towing anything with a rental.
PPP, Just buy the Suburban and stop worrying about what pearl clutchers on DCUM think.
Besides, their environmental heros like DiCaprio and Algore spend a large portion of their lives in black Suburbans taking them from their mansions to their private jets, to fly to conferences in Nice or Geneva where they tell people like you that YOUR Suburban is killing the planet.
Ignore them, laugh at them.
Spend a lot of money to buy and operate a Suburban whose capabilities you will only need for a few days a year, to own the libs! Or something.
It's not about owning anyone, idiot. It's about driving whatever you damn well please, without being subject to the tyranny of the idiot masses, like you.
Besides - you said it yourself just now: they'd only need it "a few times a year". And if owning it is the only way to achieve that (as it seems to be, since you can't tow with a rental) , then those few days a year justify it. Because there's no other alternative besides NOT owning the boat.
So how much of their lifestyle do they need to change to meet with YOUR approval?
Suburbans/GMCs are unreliable. Good luck buying a used one. I hope you have a relative who's a mechanic.
