Actually, it’s spelled with double y in the WH transcript. There is no official single transliteration of Zelenskyy’s name from Ukrainian cyrillic alphabet into latin alphabet used in English. The Zelenskyy administration has confirmed that Zelenskyy himself prefers the “Zelenskyy” transliteration and that Zelenskyy’s name is spelled “Zelenskyy” in his passport. If the whole impeachment exercise is a charade, the Republican senate should immediately hold a vote to summarily dismiss the charges and refuse to convict.
I say this as someone who did not vote for Trump and would not vote for him. Apparently, the Democrats want to fast track the impeachment decision and hold a vote by the end of October with hearings to be completed by then so that it does not interfere with the primaries that will start in January.

Given that there are less than 15 months to the next election, that is the vehicle to replace Trump.

They could've turned on him whenever they wanted. He's dirty as hell. If they wanted to ruin him they could've. They didn't think they needed to. And then, they never thought he'd win.

Supporting him has always been what their constituents wanted. But that may be changing.

I said this already today but they care about their own asses. Not country of course. And not even party. They care about reelection and that is all.

Impeachment is going to continue to get more popular. At some point 17 spineless GOP Senators will feel that their state may be enough for impeachment that they'll vote to convict.
