Caribbean: Rosewood Little Dix (mentioned by others...it really gives you the peaceful island paradise vibe) might have the edge over Four Seasons Nevis (more traditionally plush)

US Southern Coastal: Sea Island (Cloister and Beach Club) followed by Montage Palmetto Bluff

US Northern Coastal: Ocean House

US Eastern Mountains: Old Edwards Inn or Whiteface Lodge

Pretty much Four Seasons and Ritz anywhere where the sun shines more than 3 months during the year.

Also loved Guerney's Inn in Montauk.

I loved the Ritz Carlton there. It was my favorite. Montage seemed nice!

I love the Montage. Much smaller than the Ritz. Stunning resort and view. And huge units to stay in. And the pools are beautiful. And you can walk to Merrimans. I love everything about it.

I think you mean JW Marriott Starr Pass?

The setting, views, service, lobby, rooms. Just really felt like a resort away from it all, except it’s close to the city.

Did you stay there the whole time or also visit other parts of the island? I'm adding this to my list. Used to live in Mauritius but haven't been back since 1994. Bsck then majority of the resorts were in the north and also tamarind bay side.

For an incredible off the beaten path and unique resort experience, I cannot recommend Arenal, Costa Rica's Leaves and Lizards enough. It is such an incredibly special place: small, intimate, and unique lodging (including a Hobbit and a treehouse) with outstanding fresh food and a view that cannot be beat. They have their own herd of gentle, intelligent horses and arrange trail rides to a private waterfall with a naturalist guide, plus farm animals for kids to interact with every day. It's the perfect mix of luxury and rustic.
