Not for lawyers. SEC is just where big law associates go to be overpaid and not enforce securities zealously. State is full of lawyers negotiating embassy contracts.

No way. If your field is health policy and you want to be a lobbyist one day, HHS is best. Most people who could leave State and DOJ by now have left so as to avoid the whackadoodle Trumpsters. Treasury maybe, but if you're smart and talented in economics and finance, you'd want to avoid the GS salary scale altogether and go to the Fed.
