Sorry, but you have it backwards. The first woman to go by Captain Marvel was Monica Rambeaux. And thats the thing about it, no one cares or even made a big enough fuss for this knowledge to be mainstream. But it is what it is.

Carol came before Monica. And the first Captain Marvel was an alien (a white guy male alien).

I don’t really care. At first I read this as “hallie berry” to play Ariel and my only thought was she was too old. Don’t care about the skin color of a fictional character.

Well, Aladdin is supposed to be Chinese. I liked the live action, though.
Emma Watson as Belle was the biggest disappointment, ever! The moment she started to sing it just fell apart. She cannot sing, I don't understand how she got that part. Halle Bailey has a beautiful voice, and I look forward to seeing her as Ariel.

The problem with "staying true to the original characters" as someone requested is that this is America. For the majority of the time that movies have been produced, white actors and actresses have dominated. Even in the case when the story was about a person of color. Therefore if all movies that are remade or reimagined stayed "true" then there would never be an opportunity for diversified casting. People complaining about this are racists of the worse sort.

I hated the original Mermaid. This one looks like a big improvement.

Agreed but I wonder if this is Disney’s way of making up for doing Tiana so terribly. She spends most of the movie as a frog and had the least interesting personality compared to any of the Disney Princesses in the last 30 years. We kept the movie in rotation because we are an African American family, but Disney really phoned it in when it came to The Princess and the Frog.

I loved the Princess and the Frog! Yes, it was not nice that she was a frog for most of the movie, but I liked her personality more than most of the Disney Princesses. I thought it was a sweet love story and a lovely movie.

Same here. I also think her dress is the best of all the princess dresses. Which is completely shallow, but we are talking about Disney.
