15 yo son. Circumcised. No regrets. Friend who had son same year and didn’t circumcise, had to circumcise him at 2 years old due to issues. She has 2 boys and the other had no issues not being circumcised

No and a close friend had her son's circumcision botched. Took 3 surgeries to "fix" and as I understand it there are still issues.

It’s strange that for the first few years I heard way more stories of girls having vulva issues than boys (circed or not) having adhesion or circ problems.

Our two boys are intact. DH is from Europe and finds the practice bizarre.

I’m Jewish but my dad was a pediatrician and my pediatrician and became very anti-circ through the years so it wasn’t even a question for me to keep my children whole.

These are extraordinarily rare mistakes. Major medical malpractice. Like amputating the wrong arm. It happens, but extremely infrequently. Please tell me you are not basing your objections to any medical procedure on the rarest outcomes.

I grew up in a country where it is extremely uncommon to circumcise boys so I experienced plenty of uncut penises Because of that, I decided to circumsize my sons for esthetic reasons only. Looks way better.

My H was not circumcised and my son also was not. At the time of his birth my mother told me that she inadvertently witnessed the circumcision of her second son and was horrified and wished she had not had either son circumcised after witnessing that. Since my H was un- we decided to go with that.

Son is now 44 years old and it has never been a topic of conversation or an issue that I know of. It's my impression he has had plenty of sex with no problems, although I do not know that firsthand, naturally.

On the other hand, I discovered after my divorce that I am much more turned on by a circumcised penis than I was by an uncircumcised penis. Just a basic physical reaction that involved no thought or logic.

Why do all the male siblings have to be the same in that regard? We make many parenting decisions and our children make decisions for themselves, and they aren't always the same for "all of the male siblings."

I am a pp who has 4 sons and only the oldest is circumcised. There are many things about them that are not all the same. #1, 3, and 4 wanted to take Spanish in school, but #2 wanted to take French. Should we have forced him to take Spanish?


When my oldest was 12 he got to fly to California by himself and visit his aunt. By the time the second one was 12, her circumstances had changed and she couldn't host her nephews like that again. Was it unfair of us to allow the oldest one to visit his aunt unless we could 100% guarantee that all of them would have the same opportunity?

If one son fell and broke his arm, should we break all of their arms?

Until it isn't, as a PP observed. Unnecessary surgery on a highly sensitive body part sometimes goes awry, with devastating consequences. Hemorrhage and even damage requiring gender reassignment surgery.
