Wow, this one is like a Rorschach on commenters’ families and relationships with mom! I am with the ones who say to comment along the lines of “I’m so thrilled to be pregnant after all we’ve been through, please don’t take away from that with your own disappointment.” And then move on. But I have a good relationship with a great mom who would apologize for her immediate reaction and also move on to loving that baby. If this is mom’s general MO rather than an aberration, then yes, information diet is in order. I think the nasty harsh PPs are ones who have forgiven so much more from their sh***y parents that this sounds petty. But when mom is usually caring and comforting and on point, of course this is hurtful. If mom is unusually caring and comforting and on point you can also probably bring up how much it hurt you and actually get an apology.

Yeah, you really need to work in the oversharing. My sister and BIL do this with both sets of parents and then get annoyed when they get comments they don’t like.
