Verbal racism is one thing, where maybe one could argue freedom of speech and go to a southern school like Ole Miss or Alabama, but no school would ever admit a student who makes threats of violence, especially to groups of people.

Using racial slurs and being called out for it can be linked in people’s minds is not picking on conservative youth. Racial slurs are wrong regardless of party affiliation. People who degrade other people don’t deserve to go to top schools.

Seems like colleges have less of a problem with profanity than they do with blatant and extreme racist statements.

+1 Harvard would be half empty if they didn't admit kids who used profanity. But threatening to mow down blacks and Jews? From a kid who got in because of his Parkland fame? No. Way.

I'm pretty sure David Hogg never said he wanted to kill anyone - especially not on the basis of their race or religion. That seems like a significant distinction.

Harvard clearly doesn't have a problem with political differences in this case, as they accepted Kashuv after his pro-gun stance was known but before all the racism.

I keep trying and failing to put this into words - but here goes: We all expect that people affiliated with the groups that he is affiliated with think what he said. I think the problem is that he said the quiet parts out loud. It would have been ok if he was merely part of groups we *know* but can't prove hate jews. But he had to go and say it and now we can't pretend that maybe he doesn't think these things.
