If you felt like it you could return the poop to them but I personally wouldn’t touch their dogs poop. Film much more motivating— they will say you harassed them and the burden will be on you to prove their dog did it etc etc.

Cayenne pepper plus film the dog with phone & report to police. You are already in a conflict with them.

Yes, we have an HOA - but what would they do that would really help here? Again, I will be living here for the next 10+ years so I don’t want to turn things super hostile but I would like them to be more considerate.


The HOA could fine them!!!

Also, many HOAs have increasing fees, so a first time violation might be $50, a second might be $100, etc.

Instead of asking them to clean up the poop, tell them nicely but firmly not to let their dogs go in your yard for any reason at all. If it persists, then report them with photos of dogs off leash, trespassing, etc

Do you want them to stop? If so, then you need to not be concerned about hostility between you and them. Clearly, your polite requests aren't going to cut it.

I’m a fairly new dog owner and now that I walk the dog all over the place I’m shocked at how many people don’t pick up after their dogs. On a half hour walk they our suburban neighborhood I routinely see dog poop in 3-5 spots on any given day.

This. Buy a motion activated sprinkler or more than one and place close to their yard. Have them have to deal with soaking wet dogs if they come into your yard.
