I disagree that it's "strange." In fact it's completely typical when the suspect is going to be someone who has the means to fight back with the best defense attorneys and private investigators.
You can be sure that law enforcement is crossing their /T/s and dotting /I/s, and making sure their evidence-collection procedures are constitutionally air-tight.

Funny how the usual cries of “thug” and death penalty haven’t permeated this thread. We’ve pretty much been able to have a calm and thoughtful conversation because the suspect was quickly identified as white and well-dressed. Imagine if we could be so civil whenever we talk about crime.
